This was my favorite shoot yet. I felt so honored, to be able to photograph my newly engaged best friend and her fiancé in my favorite place in the whole world. Katie and I have been friends since sixth grade. She has been to Star Lake with me many times and appreciates it as much as I do. When we planned to have them visit us on our yearly trip, we didn’t know that we would be celebrating anything other than them being there.
When Brad proposed to Kate, her and I had just gotten home from Newport, RI where she came along to help me with a wedding I was photographing. I hadn’t been home more than an hour when I received the call from her. We were so excited. After just spending a weekend talking all things love and weddings, it couldn’t have been better timing.
About a month later is when they came up to my family camp in the Adirondacks. She had suggested a little impromptu shoot while they were there since she loves the place (almost) as much as I do.
So, there we were. Surrounded by the mountains of the Adirondacks on Star Lake. Rowing my grandfather’s canoe that has been in our family for over a hundred years. We knew this moment couldn’t be more special, for any of us.
